Q. How much is it to join the club, what are the costs ?.
A. The first week is completely free, come down to one of the Dojos and have a go.If you enjoy it and would like to become a member of our club then you have to purchase a license which will cover you for accidents, (don't worry we haven't lost a member yet! ) this is compulsory and we have to abide by these rules for your safety.
The license costs (please ask Sensei Dave).
You pay for your training as you go along.
You pay for lessons, each session the cost is £5.
Other costs will be for your equipment, a Gi ( Karate suit), gum shield, mitts and pads etc.
There are also training trips and competitions which incur additional costs but they are voluntary.

Q. What do I wear if I don't have a karate suit (Gi)
A.wear loose fitting clothes e.g. T Shirt and shorts or tracksuit bottoms etc.

Q. How old must a child be to be a member of the club?
A. At least five (5) years of age. ( The insurance will not cover younger children )

Q. What order do your belts run in?
Click Here to see the belt Kyu/Dan Colours.

Q. How often are the gradings, how quickly can I make Black belt?
A.There are certain rules to be followed, gradings are taken every 3 months for white to purple belt, 6 months to Brown belt 3rd Kyu on up to black belt 1st Dan, 2 years between 1st and 2nd Dan, if you get to there I am sure you don't need to ask any more questions.
To grade you must have at least 26 attendance marks or 52 for higher belts on your attendance card AND Sensei David will tell you if you are up to the standard to grade, it is up to you to put in the training, even if you have enough marks to grade if you are not up to a reasonable standard to have a chance of passing the belt that you are trying for, you may not be allowed to grade.

Q. What if I can't make a lesson due to being ill or on holiday?
A.If you can give Sensi David a phone call or an email before the lesson and let him know you can't attend, you can receive a mark on your attendance card "S" for sick or "H" for holiday which will still count towards your grading points.
